Once all players have their two hole cards, a round of betting begins. This is triggered by the players to the left of the dealer placing mandatory bets called blinds into the pot before the cards are dealt.
Each player must then either call the amount of money bet by the player to their left or raise that amount. If a player raises and no one calls, that player wins the pot without showing their hand! This element of bluffing is what makes poker so interesting.
